oh Hey, Friends!
We’re Oh Hey, Dog!, a non-profit in Gainesville, FL that’s working to bridge the gap between adopting a dog and owning one.
About OHD
The disconnect between adopting a dog and living with a dog inspired the need for Oh Hey, Dog!
The gap in communication and education often leads to dogs with poor social skills, reactivity, aggression, and fear, and thus results in their owners being overwhelmed and feeling of their depth. Newly adoptive humans often avoid external social interactions with their adoptees and, while that may help initially, continued avoidance will ultimately validate the dog’s idea that other dogs and strangers are threats in some way. Most dog owners are willing to learn but don’t know where to turn for help.
That’s where our community at Oh Hey, Dog! steps in.
Oh Hey, Dog! works to to provide access to support and education to all dogs and people, through trust, patience, communication, and friendship.
Adopting is one of the best things you can do.
Oh Hey, Dog! believes in and advocates for adoption. When you adopt, you’re not just giving a deserving dog a home. You’re also reducing the demand for puppy mills and other industrial-scale breeding operations that put profit before animal welfare.
